Joining 1st Reservoir Scout Group
The best way to see what we do is to come along and give it a go! Parents of children and young people who are interested in trying out Joeys, Cubs or Scouts should
first give our group leader, Vaughn a ring on phone or email. Kids trying out
Joeys, Cubs and Scouts can come along for two weeks before registering - parents can either stay with their children for the first visit or two, or leave their
child for the session - provided they leave contact information with the leaders, of course. Leaders must also be informed if their are any health issues with the
child, if they are to be left in the care of the Group.
After two weeks, children may only attend if their parents have given the leaders a "Y4" form. While there are a number of god reasons why the leaders need the Y4 form, one of the most important is that children will not be covered by the insurance provided by Scouts after the first few visits without a Y4 form. Children attending for a third time without a Y4 form will not be allowed to stay. Please contact your leader to obtain a Y4 form.
Health (Personal Information Record) Form
Parents will need to fill out a Personal Information Record (PIR) Form for all major (and some not so major) excursions by youth members (i.e. Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Rovers) of the group. The leaders need new PIR forms for each major excursion to ensure that they have the most up-to-date health and contact information for each youth member (even leaders need to fill out a PIR when they lead an excursion or camp). Some parents find it more convenient to fill in an electronic version of the form, save it to their home computer, and update and print it as and when excursions and camps come up. If you are one of these (wise) parents, you can download an electronic version of the PIR form here:
